When my grandma passed, I was given her Kitchen Aid mixer. It
was red, and red just didn't blend with our kitchen. So we decided we would paint it.
I can just hear my grandma saying "Hali can you not leave stuff alone!". She was one of the best
parts of my life, she is where my sassy came from and my horrible sense of humor!
This project should of been a day or two project, that ended up being a week or two project because lets face it...we have two kids and we have a busy schedule during the week.
First my husband took it apart, he removed the back piece and the silver piece at the bottom.
After he removed all the pieces that needed to be removed, he sanded down the mixer. We had primer that said no sanding required but we figured we would sand it anyway.
We used Rust-Oleum Primer! It worked perfect! We bought it at wal-mart while we were on a quick pick up a few things grocery trip.
We almost left it painted with just the primer because we loved the flat white look so much. The primer covered very well and easily in one coat.
We also purchased the Rust-Oleum metallic Rose Gold Spray paint at wal-mart. It took 2 coats but one can was enough for the mixer.
We replaced the parts after it dried and it looks amazing!!!
